Everything Baby

I just finished the binding on our store model of Everything Baby by Angie Steveson. This is such a fun quilt! For us it was a joint project. Our friend Mary Aftowski embroidered the blocks. My daughter Cathy put them together, and I pieced the border and quilted it. (I also had help with the borders.) It will look great in our Sewing Department’s new Baby display.

Since I first learned Sharon Schamber’s technique for putting on the binding in the Perfect Binding DVD (down a bit on this page), I haven’t even thought about doing it any other way. I combine this with my Piping Hot Bindings (down a bit on this page), too. I didn’t use the extra touch of color on this one because it has so many colors in the border already, but I do use it on many of my quilts, as you can see on the corner of my Mother Goose and Friends Wallhanging. It adds a spark of color that really enhances so many projects!

Our Open House to celebrate 35 years in business is tomorrow and Saturday. We’re having prizes and refreshments and hope to be able to thank many of our customers personally for sharing this journey with us. We’ll take lots of photos and put them up to be able to share here, too. Talk to you again soon.

  1. I’m glad to see Angie joined us! She’s the one who designed the baby quilt. We got so much excitement around it at our Anniversary Bash! Angie’s a very talented lady I met about a year ago and loved her embroidery designs. Be sure to see all of them on our website. See you again soon, Angie!

  2. Congratulations on your busy Open House and your 35th anniversary. I hope you’ll take a day or two to kick back and put up your feet. I saw you on the WNDU-TV news Friday night; they did a nice job. I hope the line of job applicants wasn’t too long.

  3. I love the blog! It is great to see another baby quilt completed. I like the kitty cat helper too. My sewing helpers are four cockatiel birds that are alway under foot when I am sewing. Congratulations on your 35th anniversary! I wish I could have joined you!
