Take a Break!

Maisy’s Flower Pincushion (58850) is a cute little project from Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched. If you’re looking for some instant gratification, this little appliquéd pincushion is for you.

The raw edged appliqué means that there are no raw edges to turn under…which means quick stitching! While the pattern instructs you to use fusible web to hold the pieces in place while stitching, don’t be afraid to use a glue stick or fabric adhesive to make the process go a bit faster. Cathy has even put together a Maisy’s Flowers Project Pack (A11785) with beautiful wools (not felt…but woven wools!) and all the floss that is needed to complete one pincushion.
(Store Model made by Joni Neil.)
I fill my pincushions with crushed walnut shells. You can find these at any large pet store. (Crushed walnut shells are used for litter in bird and reptile cages.) A bag costs about $10, but you’ll be able to fill a lot of pincushions with one bag!

This project or any other of our wool pincushions would make a great gift or addition to your own sewing room. So…take a break from those large projects, and stitch one up this weekend!
