But this one is a doozy!
There are major problems with the Steam-A-Seam products and no foreseeable solution or shipping estimate, not that they aren’t working on it. So we looked for a substitute for our favorite fusible web. The closest we found was EZ Steam. I just used it like I always did with Steam-A-Seam and Steam-A-Seam 2, and thought it was just fine. However, some of our customers told us that they hated it! The problem, we finally found out from our distributor’s great representative, Carolyn Griffin, was that these customers had actually read the instructions that come with EZ Steam and EZ Steam 2! (This was one time that not reading the instructions worked better for me!)
So Carolyn talked to the manufacturer and found that the person who wrote the instructions didn’t know how to use the products, and no one proofed the instructions before they were printed. See, I told you it was a doozy!
So throw those instructions out!!! Use EZ Steam the way you used Steam-A-Seam.
Carolyn gave us this tutorial:
1 – Trace the design you’d like to applique onto the paper. I used a pencil, ball-point pen, Sharpie marker and a Pigma pen – all of them marked easily on the paper.
2 – Cut around the drawn design leaving a 1/4″ or so outside the design.
3 – Fuse to the wrong side of your fabric to be appliqued.
4 – Cut the fabric and fusible on the drawn line and then peel away the paper backing. You will find the fusible glue is sticky and easily repositionable until you use an iron to permanently fuse it in place. (For EZ-Steam II, check to see which paper liner pulls away more easily, and trace on the other side.) If the image needs to be reversed, adjust these instructions.
5 – After final positioning, press to fuse, about 10 seconds on each side. When cool, check the bond and repeat if necessary.
